Schools Closed as Heavy Rain and Thunderstorms Hit Tamil Nadu

Schools closed in some Tamil Nadu districts as heavy rainfall continues

Torrential rains and thunderstorms have disrupted life across Tamil Nadu, leading to the closure of schools in several districts. Authorities issued warnings as the northeast monsoon gained strength, causing widespread concern.

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Chennai forecasted heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunder, in ten districts between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Tuesday. The affected areas include five districts in the Delta region—Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, and Pudukkottai—and five in the southern part of the state: Sivaganga, Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, and Kanyakumari. Local authorities have urged residents to remain cautious as the downpours continue.
