Chuck Woolery, the iconic game show host who rose to fame as the first host of Wheel of Fortune, has passed away at the age of 83, TMZ has confirmed.
According to Woolery’s longtime friend and podcast co-host Mark Young, who was with him in his Texas home at the time, Chuck had been feeling unwell and decided to lie down. A short while later, Woolery returned to the room, reporting difficulty breathing. Despite the efforts of those around him and a 911 call, Woolery could not be revived.
Woolery’s career began in 1975, when he became the first host of Wheel of Fortune, a role that would define his legacy in television. He later became the host of Love Connection, solidifying his place in the hearts of game show fans.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Kim, and his children Katherine, Melissa, Michael, and Sean. His passing marks the end of an era for fans who fondly remember his work in the game show world.
